1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the Twende mobile applications or website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. About Twende

Twende Technologies Ltd is a technology company registered in Tanzania that operates a ride-hailing and delivery platform connecting riders with independent drivers. Twende is licensed and regulated by LATRA (Land Transport Regulatory Authority).

3. Eligibility

To use Twende services, you must:

Be at least 18 years of age
Have a valid Tanzanian phone number
Provide accurate registration information
Agree to these Terms of Service

4. Services

Twende provides the following services through its platform:

Bodaboda Rides: Motorcycle taxi services
Car Rides: Vehicle transportation services
Bajaji Rides: Three-wheeler (tuk-tuk) transportation
Parcel Delivery: Same-day package delivery services
E-Bike Rides: Electric motorcycle transportation

Twende acts as an intermediary platform. Drivers are independent contractors, not employees of Twende.

5. Payments and Fares

Fares are calculated based on distance, time, and ride type
Payment can be made via TwendeWallet (M-Pesa, Tigo Pesa, Airtel Money) or cash
Fare estimates are provided before ride confirmation but may vary based on actual route
Cancellation fees may apply if a ride is cancelled after driver assignment

6. User Responsibilities

As a user of Twende, you agree to:

Provide accurate personal and payment information
Treat drivers and other users with respect
Wear a helmet when using bodaboda or e-bike services
Not engage in illegal or dangerous activities during rides
Report any safety concerns through the app

7. Driver Requirements

All Twende drivers must:

Hold a valid Tanzanian driving license
Pass background verification checks
Be registered with LATRA
Maintain their vehicle in safe operating condition
Provide helmets for bodaboda and e-bike passengers

8. Safety

Twende is committed to rider and driver safety. We provide real-time trip tracking, an SOS emergency button, driver verification, and 24/7 support. However, Twende is not liable for incidents beyond our reasonable control.

9. E-Bike Financing Program

The Green Mobility e-bike financing program is subject to additional terms. Revenue-based repayment is deducted from daily earnings. Failure to meet repayment obligations may result in suspension of the e-bike and removal from the program.

10. Account Suspension

Twende reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:

Violate these Terms of Service
Engage in fraudulent activity
Receive consistently poor ratings
Pose a safety risk to others

11. Limitation of Liability

Twende provides the platform on an "as is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by Tanzanian law, Twende shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any disputes shall be resolved through the courts of Dar es Salaam.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
